Sunny Portal becomes ‘Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS’

SMA introduces a new platform for monitoring solar PV plants remotely

Sunny Portal becomes ‘Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS’

Many people with SMA inverters are familiar with the SMA monitoring platform 'Sunny Portal'. But SMA is launching a successor to this platform, called 'Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS'. Le's take a look at the new platform.

It is important to keep an eye on the yield of the solar panels; That's how you know whether everything is working properly, so you can quickly identify any problems. In the early years of Zonnefabriek, inverters still had a screen on which you could see how much power was being produced at that moment. Nowadays, inverters no longer have a display and most people follow the yield via the internet.

Smartphone or computer

Broadly speaking, there are two options for monitoring the operation of your system remotely; either with an app on your phone, or via the web portal on your computer. For a general overview the Zonnefabriek app is sufficient, but for more detail you would need to use the inverter manufacturer's app or web portal.

For people with SMA inverters, the SMA Energy app provides a lot of interesting information about the system. And for PC's there's the 'Sunny Portal', a web portal on which all kinds of information about your installation is displayed. But since a few weeks all new installations are no longer registered on Sunny Portal, but on its successor, called 'Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS'. The layout of this platform has completely changed compared to its predecessor, and there is more detailed information available for those who like it.

To log in to the new platform, use the following web address: ennexos.sunnyportal.com. You can log in here with your e-mail address and the password sent to you from ennexOS. You will then arrive at the following screen:

On this 'dashboard' you can see the most important data of the system. The dashboard is made up of various blocks (widgets) such as 'STATUS', 'WEATHER', 'ENERGY AND POWER - PV'. You can select which of these widgets you want to display in the dashboard by clicking on the three vertical dots in the right corner and then checking the desired widgets.

Click on the three dots in the top right of the screen to select which widgets you want to show on the dashboard

If a widget features an arrow to the right (>), such as 'ENERGY AND POWER -PV', this means that you can click on it to find more detailed information. Below is an example, with the revenue per day, week, month, etc. You return to the dashboard by clicking on the dashboard icon at the top left.

If you would like to know more about current and voltage on the DC (solar panels) or the AC (grid) side of the inverter, then you should go to the 'Analysis' icon. If you click on it, a menu will appear; click on 'Analysis Pro'. Depending on your type of inverter, you can find more detailed measurement data on this page. Check the box for the inverter and then select which data you want to display in the graph. For example, if you want to monitor the mains voltage, click on the block with 'UAC'. All values that turn blue are now shown in the graph. By moving the mouse over the graph you can trace the exact value of the mains voltage at any time of the day.

On the 'Analysis Pro' page you can create graphs for various measured parameters

Via the 'monitoring' icon you will arrive at the 'event monitor'. All notifications about the system are displayed here. The events are divided into 'info', 'warning' and 'error', with the latter being of course the most important.

The bottom icon is the one for 'configuration': this is where you can, for example, upload a nice photo of the system, but also where you can change parameters in the inverter remotely. For example, you can turn off your inverter remotely if you wish.

Migration from Sunny Portal to ennexOS

During the course of 2024, SMA will 'migrate' all existing installations of the Sunny Portal to the new platform 'Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS'. This happens automatically: you don't have to do anything yourself. If you only use the SMA Energy app and not the web portal, you won't notice anything at all. We will post more information about ennexOS on our FAQ page in the coming months. There is also a lot to discover about the SMA Energy app; that will be the subject of one of the coming newsletters!

Did you know that a large proportion of our customers came to Zonnefabriek through the recommendations from friends of family? We’re glad to see that so many of our customers are happy with their solar systems. But did you also know that you can actually earn money by bringing in new customers? The way to do it is by using our ‘Mijn Zonnefabriek’ app.
