Resetting the STP5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000T, 10,000 or 12,000TL-20 Inverter

A "reset" (turning off and on) of the Sunny Tripower inverter can easily restore the data transmission. Read here the steps you need to follow

Sometimes, a reset is necessary when communication with the online monitoring has been interrupted. Here's how to do it:

  • Step 1

Turn off the AC (alternating current) side. You can do this in the fuse box by switching off the solar power group (you'll recognize it by the Zonnefabriek sticker). It concerns a three-phase group — these are wider than the regular groups. When you switch it down, all three phases will turn off simultaneously.

  • Step 2

Now go to the inverter. You will see that it is currently in fault mode because the AC has been turned off. We will now also turn off the DC (direct current, coming from the panels). Do this by pulling the ESS (Electronic Solar Switch) out of the device. The ESS is a component located at the bottom of the device. There are icons on it indicating its function. In the image below, you can see the position of the ESS (circled in red). You can pull the entire component vertically downward from the device using your fingers at the back of the ESS.

  • Step 3

Now the device is turned off on both the AC and DC sides, but there is still residual voltage in the capacitors. You can see this from the screen that is still lit, and the LED lights next to the screen. After about half a minute, the screen will turn off, and the device will be completely without power.

  • Step 4

Now, we are going to restart the device, starting with the DC side by reinserting the ESS back into the device. Once it’s properly in place, a green light will start blinking slowly next to the display.

  • Step 5

Finally, we go back to the meter box, where we turn the ‘Solar Power’ group back on by pushing the switch upwards.

  • Step 6

After a while, the communication with Sunny Portal will normally resume. Note: The graphs for daily, monthly, and yearly production may take a bit longer to appear. They are usually visible again on My Zonnefabriek and the Zonnefabriek app after a few hours.
