How do I set the 'Operating Mode Active Power Setting' to 'External setting'?
How do you change the 'Operating Mode Active Power setting' from 'Off' to: 'External setting'?
If you have configured a feed-in limitation of your system on ennexOS or on the classic Sunny Portal but your inverter still continues to feed in power, then the culprit is probably the setting 'Operating Mode Active Power setting' in the inverter itself. Follow the steps below to change this setting from 'Off' to 'External setting'. (NB: if you already know how to log into the inverter you can skip the first 6 steps.)

Step 1: The SMA Energy app
Open the SMA Energy App on your phone. The login for the SMA Energy App is the same as your SMA-ID: The user name is your e-mail address, the password is your SMA-ID password

Step 2: My area
Once logged in, click on the ‘My Area’ icon at the bottom right of the home page.

Step 3: QR-code scanner
Click on ‘Quick access to devices’. When you click on this, a page will appear with a blue button that says ‘Activate scanner’: click on this.

Step 4: Scanning the QR-code
Point the camera on your smartphone towards the QR code on the inverter. The smartphone will now automatically lead you to the inverter login screen. (NB: if you are unable to access the login screen this way, you can follow the steps in this article).

Step 5: logging in
To log in, select the user group 'Installer', and as password: a zero, followed by your postcode (with the letters in capital letters), followed by an underscore and in lower case: zf (for Zonnefabriek). So that would be: 01234AB_zf. (N.B: Previously we did not use a zero before the postcode)

Step 6: Device parameters
Once logged in we want to select the 'Device Parameters' (first click on the three horizontal stripes in the top right)

Step 8: Click on inverter

Step 9: Click on Active Power Mode
Scroll down a bit and then click on 'Active Power Mode'. Here is where you'll find the setting for 'Operating Mode Active Power Setting'. This is most likely set to 'Off' like in the picture: we want to change this to 'External Setting'. Scroll back up first

Step 10: Click on Edit Parameters
At the top of the page click on 'Edit Parameters' and then scroll back down again

Step 11: Select 'External Setting'
Now we can modify all the parameters. Click on the dropdown and select 'External Setting'

Step 12: Save all changes
Scroll back up and click 'Save all'. The change has now been saved.

Step 13: Finished
You can now log out of the inverter and put your phone back on your WiFi. The setting should now be correct so that your Sunny Home Manager can control your inverter.
