View the real-time yield of your inverter

With the SMA ‘SmartScreen’

Most inverters no longer have a display, meaning you can no longer simply read the yield from the screen. But if you keep your smartphone near the inverter, you can still do it: How does that work?

Most inverters no longer have a display, meaning you can no longer simply read the yield from the screen. But if you keep your smartphone near the inverter, you can still do it: How does that work?

The trend with inverters is clear: less screen, more use of your smartphone. The latest SMA models have not had a display for some time, and SolarEdge is following that trend. The logic behind this is that inverters are now all connected to the internet, so you can read everything online anyway: Why pay extra for a display on the device that could also break?

If you still want to read out the data from the inverter directly instead of via the internet, then that is also possible.

Smart Screen

At SMA, they call this the "Smart Screen" because it functions just like a regular screen on the inverter, but with additional information. This way of reading your inverter works only if you are near the device and not when you leave the house. When you're done and log out, don't forget to switch your smartphone or tablet's Wi-Fi back to your router. Please note: The Smart Screen only works with SMA inverters that do not have their own display, such as the SB 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.6, 4.0, 5.0 and the STP 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0.
