Solar panel weather July 2025
What was the weather like in the past month for the solar panels? What does that say about the yield? And how does it compare to previous years?July 2025 was actually a very ordinary month: the temperature was slightly higher than average for July, but that comes as no suprise since we've got climate change to contend with. However, the number of sunshine hours was completely in line with the long-term average: 224 hours of sunshine, compared to the long term average of 220 hours for July according to meteorological organisation KNMI.

Bad luck for the Northeast
Regional differences were very large last month. In the Northeast near Winschoten, the sun shone for only 171 hours, while Hoek van Holland in the West received a whopping 57% more sunshine, with 269 hours. The Northeast also suffered a bit in terms of precipitation, with much more rain than the rest of the country.
Since the past month was sunny, but not extremely sunny, the issue of negative electricity prices wasn't very prominent. Not a single day in July had negative basic electricity prices on the EPEX market. And after the first few (hot) days of July, the electricity price dropped again in the evenings, to normal levels of around 30 cents per kWh. There were also few positive outliers on the imbalance market.

Zonnefabriek is currently receiving a lot of demand for home batteries
Tracking your data during the holidays
Summer is quietly rolling along: we still have calm summer weather ahead of us, not too hot like in Southern Europe, with occasional rain but not too much; quite pleasant, actually. Perhaps you're on holiday abroad yourself; then it's nice to be able to occasionally keep an eye on the yield of your solar panels and the functioning of your home batteries using the monitoring apps. And if that monitoring should unexpectedly fail, please be aware that this doesn't mean the solar panels are no longer working; it simply means the data transmission to the monitoring portal is temporarily off-line. Once you're back home, you can often get the monitoring going again yourself with these steps; the data from the previous days and weeks will usually be automatically updated.
Meanwhile, Zonnefabriek continues to operate during the holidays. Home batteries are particularly popular, but there is also interest in air conditioners, charging stations, and heat pump boilers. Our advisors are available as usual, so don't hesitate to schedule a no-obligation appointment!
