Daikin air conditioners are ideal for heating and cooling in an energy-efficient way
Since last year, we've added air conditioners (or: air-to-air heat pumps) to our range of products. Many of our own employees now have them at home as well and are very happy with them. Why do they think these devices are so great? We asked our installer Tim.With air conditioners you can not only cool your home but also heat it. They don't use gas for heating, just electricity, and they do this very efficiently by also using the outside air temperature. Zonnefabriek has now installed quite a few of them and the reactions are mostly very positive, including from our own employees. For example, our installer Tim has a couple of them in his own house, which he very enthusiastically likes to talk about.
‘Look at that!’, he says, pointing to the app on his phone, ‘last year I heated my entire house with electricity alone and that was less than 1300 kWh in total!’. Tim lives in a 3-room corner apartment on the ground floor. Before the installation of the air conditioners he used gas for heating, but he has now stopped using gas altogether. He has two wall-mounted units, even though he actually prefers the floor model because it is less noticeable than an air conditioner on the wall. “But I didn't have a good space for it on the floor,” he says, “whereas you can put a wall model like that in any room.”

The air conditioning can be controlled and usage data can be viewed via the Onecta app
Dust mites
What he really likes is that the air conditioners produce almost no noise, at least: when they are not working very hard. In the normal setting they are already quiet, and there is even a setting called ‘whisper quiet’ which means you can’t hear anything at all. Only when they have to work hard to quickly heat up a cold room for instance, then they make a little more noise for a short while. Tim shows how he can operate the different settings using the ‘Onecta’ app from Daikin (the manufacturer of the air conditioners). On warm days he chooses not to turn on the cooling function, but only to use the ‘ventilation’ function. ‘That's quite nice when you go to sleep’, he says, ‘because you don’t hear anything and it makes the room just that little bit fresher. Plus the air conditioners also have an air filter in them for dust mites. Since I've had these air conditioners, my allergies don't bother me anymore inside the house.’

Our installer Tim is also really good at installing home battery systems
Happy customer
Sounds good Tim! So you would recommend those Daikin air conditioners to everyone? ‘Absolutely’, he says with conviction. ‘For me in any case, it's pretty ideal. My bedroom is quite well insulated, but the living room much less so, and yet the air conditioner is still easily sufficient to keep the temperature comfortable, with much lower costs for electricity than I used to spend on gas.’ Of course, if you also have solar panels and a home battery system, then you can also use your saved surplus of solar energy for heating or cooling.
Tim has to get back to work, because coincidentally he is going to install another air conditioner for a customer on the day we are talking to him. ‘They're going to be very happy with their system’, he says as he leaves, ‘I'm quite sure of that!’ And what about you, would you be interested in an air conditioner like that? Let us know, and we'll schedule a meeting right away!
