The Sunny Boy Smart Energy 5.0 is the 2-in-1 solution for PV generation and flexible consumption in your household. This single-phase hybrid inverter from SMA has 3 separate MPP trackers, which means that even for complicated roofs you only need one inverter. The SBSE 5.0 is equipped with a 'Secure Power Supply' option: a simple and inexpensive way to always have power, even when the grid fails. This option also works when no batteries are connected.
Maximum yield
SMA ShadeFix and SMA Smart Connected technology ensure optimum yield. In addition, oversizing the solar power system also contributes to maximum output.

Adding battery storage
The SBSE 5.0 can be connected to both solar panels and batteries, but it works just as well without batteries, as a 'normal' inverter. The device can also be used as a pure battery inverter, without solar panels. Both BYD and SMA batteries can be connected to the SBSE. The amount of battery capacity can vary from 3.28 kWh to several tens of kWh. The most common capacity is around 10 kWh.
Smart charging with Sunny Home Manager
The combination of SBSE 5.0 and Sunny Home Manager ensures an 'intelligent' charging of the batteries. After all, the Home Manager knows the weather forecast for the near future. This allows for sound planning, meaning the batteries are only charged and discharged when it really makes sense.
