New in our range of products: Remeha heat pump boilers
We'd like to introduce a new addition to our product portfolio: heat pump boilers from Dutch manufacturer Remeha. High efficiency, low maintenance and a long lifespan: we explain why this sustainable product fits perfectly with the Zonnefabriek philosophy.Heat pumps are hot these days, as you will probably have noticed. Everyone is talking about them, because with a heat pump you can create heat efficiently without using gas and that is what we want. After all, everything that can be done with gas can be done better with electricity (because: it's cleaner, more efficient and cheaper). Manufacturer Vaillant has unfortunately stopped producing the Arostor heat pump boiler that we sold up until now, so we had to look for a worthy successor. The choice fell on the Azorra Ace from Dutch manufacturer Remeha. But what makes these heat pump boilers so attractive?
Hotter is better
The Remora Azorra Ace looks about the same from the outside as the other heat pump boilers on the market; a large cylinder filled with water (the boiler tank), with the actual heat pump on top. This particular heat pump boiler has a COP (Coefficient of Performance) of around 3.5. This means that it is 3.5 times more efficient than a standard electric boiler in heating water, earning it the energy label A+.

A Remeha heat pump boiler in a garage
So far nothing special, but there are two reasons why we chose the Remeha and not one of the many other options on the market. First of all, the higher water temperature: the Azorra Ace can heat the water to 75 C instead of 65 C like most others. Now, 75 C is not necessary for hot water that comes from the tap, because the temperature of hot tap water is usually only a maximum of 45 degrees. But the possibility to heat the water in the boiler tank to 75 C means that more energy can be stored in it. That is ideal if you want to use the heat pump boiler to store your excess solar energy. On sunny days, we set the system in such a way that the water in the boiler tank is made extra hot. You can then benefit from that hot water the entire evening, night, and the next morning, so that no mains power is needed for your hot water: a perfect way to save money, especially after the net metering mechansim has been abolished.
Titanium anode = less maintenance required
Another advantage is the fact that the anode in the boiler tank is made of titanium instead of the more common magnesium. The anode (a rod that is inserted into the boiler tank) serves to prevent rust formation in the tank. The anode always needs to be replaced after a while, but a titanium anode has a significantly longer lifespan than a magnesium anode. In addition, the heat pump boiler itself indicates when the anode needs to be replaced; preventive inspection of the anode is therefore not really necessary.
However, Zonnefabriek does also offer a maintenance contract with this heat pump boiler. You don't have to take out a maintenance contract, but it does affect the warranty on the product. If you choose to take out the maintenance contract, you will receive a 2-year warranty on the product; if you do not want a maintenance contract, you will receive a 1-year warranty. The maintenance contract means that a technician visits once a year to check the system and clean the air filters. We recommend taking out such a contract, unless you plan to do the maintenance yourself: the choice is yours.

We believe that the Remeha Azorra Ace heat pump boilers are a great addition to our product portfolio, in which solar panels increasingly have to share the stage with other products for your energy management. During installation, we will of course ensure that the heat pump boiler is connected to your solar panels as far as possible. On the product page you will find all the technical details about the device and you can also download a brochure/datasheet. And you know it, by clicking the button below you can request a no-obligation consultation: we'd be happy to speak to you!
