The rainbow is the new black. Zonnefabriek doesn’t want to be left behind in today’s color conversation and has found a manufacturer that can produce solar panels in all the colors of the rainbow.

Traditionally, solar panels have ranged from dark blue to black. We've previously received comments from people who would prefer a splash of color on their roofs. Until recently, there wasn’t much reason to take those comments seriously, but the conversation around color has rapidly expanded. It’s no longer just about solar panels—various cultural traditions are now part of the debate.

Zonnefabriek wants to keep the atmosphere positive and is offering a gesture of goodwill. A solar panel manufacturer has developed a technique to produce solar cells in different colors. Zonnefabriek is currently in negotiations with this supplier regarding the technical specifications. If the quality proves satisfactory, the first rainbow panels could be installed as early as January 2014.
